Police arrest six over Katsina child kidnapping and recover ransom

The Katsina State Police Command has dismantled a seven-man kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy in Katsina metropolis. DSP Abubakar Sadiq announced that six suspects were apprehended, while one, identified as Abdul, remains at large. The police recovered ₦7.5 million believed to be part of the ransom paid by the victim’s family. The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, praised the operatives for their swift action and reassured the public of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping.
What happened
- The syndicate kidnapped an eight-year-old boy and demanded a ₦50,000,000 ransom from his family.
- After negotiations, the family paid ₦17,000,000 to secure the boy’s release.
- Six suspects, including Nura Aliyu, Abubakar Aminu, Ibrahim Muhammad, Iliyasu Sani, Abubakar Muhammad, and Abdullahi Isma’il, were arrested.
- One suspect, Abdul, is still at large and a manhunt is ongoing.
- Police recovered a Peugeot 307, a Boxer motorcycle, and ₦7,500,000 in cash as evidence.
