Police arrest two men for drug offences in Enugu
Two men have been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for alleged drug peddling in Nkanu East Local Government Area. SP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that the arrests took place during intelligence-led operations targeting criminal activities. The police recovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa. CP Mamman Giwa has urged residents to support ongoing efforts against crime in the state.
What happened
- The police raided a hideout at Umuiba Nara in Nkanu East LGA on May 21, 2026, arresting Ani James, 35, and recovering suspected drugs.
- Ani James allegedly confessed to selling various types of Cannabis sativa, including ‘Loud’ and ‘Colos’.
- On May 16, 2026, police also arrested Edeh Ikechukwu, 50, at Isigwe Ugbawka in the same LGA, who admitted to being in the drug trade for five years.
- Investigations into both cases are ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned after their conclusion.
- CP Mamman Giwa reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and encouraged residents to provide credible information to the police.
