
Police arrest two over drugs in Enugu state raids
Three to four sentences introducing the news. SP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed that two suspects were arrested in Nkanu East Local Government Area for alleged involvement in illicit drug activities. The police recovered substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa during separate operations. The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the drug trade, and investigations are ongoing.
What happened
- Ani James, 35, was arrested at Umuiba Nara in Nkanu East LGA on May 21, 2026, after a police raid led by the Surveillance Team of the Agbani Area Command.
- Several sachets and wraps containing suspected illicit substances, including ‘Loud’, ‘Colos’, and other Cannabis sativa variants, were recovered from him.
- On May 16, 2026, Edeh Ikechukwu, 50, was apprehended at Isigwe Ugbawka, also in Nkanu East LGA, with large quantities of suspected Cannabis sativa.
- Edeh Ikechukwu confessed to being involved in the illicit drug trade for the past five years.
- CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa reiterated the police command’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and urged residents to support the police with credible information.
