NDLEA busts major meth lab run by Nigerian and Mexican syndicate
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has dismantled a large methamphetamine syndicate involving Nigerian and Mexican collaborators. Buba Marwa announced the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of drugs and chemicals worth over N480bn. The operation uncovered the biggest clandestine meth lab ever found in Nigeria, located in Ogun State. Significant arrests and seizures were made during coordinated raids in Ogun and Lagos.
What happened
- Buba Marwa said the operation was conducted simultaneously in Ogun and Lagos states on Saturday, May 16, 2026, after months of intelligence gathering.
- Seven suspects, including three Mexican nationals, were arrested at the forest laboratory in Ogun State.
- The alleged kingpin, Anochili Innocent, was arrested at his residence in Lagos, and another suspect, Kingsley Orike Omonughwa, was arrested on May 18.
- A total of 2,419.48 kilograms of methamphetamine and chemicals valued at over N480bn were seized, along with vehicles and other evidence.
- The NDLEA also destroyed two cannabis farms in Edo State, arresting four suspects in the past week.
