Police kill suspected kidnap leader in Ogun forest shootout
Three suspected kidnappers have been neutralised in two separate operations by the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the latest operation followed the rescue of a victim abducted on May 14, 2026. The victim was released unharmed on May 18, 2026. Police recovered weapons, cash, and phones from the scene.

- Items recovered included an AK-47 rifle with 20 rounds of ammunition, N2 million suspected ransom, and two mobile phones.
- An earlier operation, after the abduction of three persons at Ipojo Area, Iperin, via Ijebu Ode on May 11, 2026, resulted in the arrest of Seriki Mohammed Abdullahi and Mohammed Bello, and the recovery of weapons and N1.5 million.
