Police arrest suspected kidnapper and recover firearm in Anambra
A 30-year-old man, Okechukwu Chinweko, also known as “Bullet”, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command. He is accused of abduction, rape, and unlawful possession of a firearm. According to police, his arrest followed credible information and a targeted operation. The police recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and live ammunition during the arrest.
What happened
- Okechukwu Chinweko was arrested by police operatives in Umudike community, Awka, in the early hours of May 16.
- He was positively identified in connection with an incident on May 2, 2026, where a female victim was allegedly abducted and raped.
- The suspect, known as “Bullet”, has a tattoo with the same name on his arm.
- Police recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol and eight 9mm live ammunition during the operation.
- The Anambra State Police Command has stated that the case will be charged to court after investigative proceedings.
