Nigeria Revenue Service introduces unified tax ID for all taxpayers
The Nigeria Revenue Service, in partnership with the Joint Revenue Board, has introduced a mandatory Taxpayer Identification (Tax ID) system for everyone subject to tax in the country. The new initiative aims to simplify tax processes and create a single identity for all taxpayers nationwide. According to the agency, this reform is designed to improve transparency, streamline service delivery, and harmonise taxpayer information across all levels of government. The Tax ID system will replace the previous Tax Identification Number (TIN) validation process.
