NDLEA seizes ammunition and drugs hidden in food and parcels
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted large quantities of military-grade ammunition and drugs concealed in food items and parcels. The agency, led by Femi Babafemi, carried out several raids and seizures in Kaduna, Lagos, Delta, Ogun, Taraba, and the Federal Capital Territory. Suspects including Husaini Suleiman, Abdullahi Hassan, Ifeanyichukwu Peter, Godwin Vincent Osadera, Ogadi Peter, Aliyu Sani, and Sufiyanu Mohammed Misa were arrested in connection with the operations. Multiple kilograms of drugs and thousands of pills were confiscated during these coordinated efforts.
What happened
- NDLEA operatives intercepted 1,989 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition hidden in sacks of garri along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, with Abdullahi Hassan arrested as a suspect.
- Raids in Zaria, Kaduna State, led to the recovery of 361kg of skunk and the arrest of Husaini Suleiman.
- At a courier company in Lagos, officers seized consignments of cocaine and opioids concealed in cartons destined for the United Kingdom and Australia, including 170 grams of cocaine and various opioids.
- In Delta State, 65,000 kilograms of skunk were destroyed on farms, with Ifeanyichukwu Peter and Godwin Vincent Osadera arrested during follow-up operations.
- Other operations included the arrest of Ogadi Peter in Abuja for producing drug-laced cakes and cookies, the seizure of 181kg of skunk in Ogun State from Aliyu Sani, and the arrest of Sufiyanu Mohammed Misa in Taraba State with over 105,000 pills of opioids.
