NDLEA intercepts drugs headed abroad and destroys large skunk farms
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant seizures and arrests across several states. On Friday 15th May 2026, cocaine and opioids concealed in cartons were intercepted at a courier company in Lagos, bound for the United Kingdom and Australia. In Delta State, NDLEA teams destroyed 65,000 kilograms of skunk on farms and arrested two suspects. Additional operations in Kaduna, Abuja, Ogun, Taraba, Oyo, Edo, and Kano led to further seizures and arrests.
What happened
- On Friday 15th May 2026, NDLEA operatives seized 170 grams of cocaine and various opioids concealed in cartons at a Lagos courier company, destined for the UK and Australia.
- In Delta State, 27,500kg and 37,500kg of skunk were destroyed on Sunday 10th May and Tuesday 12th May respectively, with suspects Ifeanyichukwu Peter and Godwin Vincent Osadera arrested.
- In Kaduna, on Tuesday 12th May, Abdullahi Hassan was caught with 1,989 rounds of military-grade ammunition hidden in sacks of garri.
- In Abuja, on Monday 11th May, Ogadi Peter was arrested with 800 grams of skunk and 2.70kg of drug-laced cookies at his Life Camp residence.
- Other notable seizures include 181kg of skunk in Ogun on Wednesday 13th May, over 105,000 pills of opioids in Taraba on Thursday 14th May, and 1,388kg of cannabis destroyed in Edo on Friday 15th May.
