
Police rescue kidnap victim and recover ransom in Abia
A suspected kidnapper has been arrested by the Abia State Police Command in Umuahia. The police also rescued a victim and recovered ₦830,000 in ransom money. The operation was carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit based on intelligence reports. What happened
- The police identified the suspect as Ibrahim Audu, 42, and the victim as Onyebuchi Nwaoha, 46, both from Old Umuahia.
- Operatives stormed Ogwashi Forest, believed to be a kidnappers' hideout, and engaged the suspects in a confrontation.
- The kidnappers fled, but the police managed to apprehend Ibrahim Audu and rescue Onyebuchi Nwaoha.
- The police recovered ₦830,000, which had been collected as ransom from the victim’s family.
