
Soldiers neutralise Lakurawa terrorists and recover weapons
Troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed two suspected members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group during an operation in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. They also recovered weapons and rustled livestock in separate actions across Sokoto and Katsina states. According to Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the military remains committed to fighting insecurity in the region. The recent operations targeted terrorist activities and aimed to restore safety to affected communities.
What happened
- Troops responded to a distress call about an attempt by suspected Lakurawa terrorists to set fire to a Nigerian Immigration Service facility in Ruwa Wiri village, Tangaza LGA, Sokoto State.
- The soldiers engaged the attackers in a gunfight, killing two terrorists while others escaped.
- Weapons including two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
- In a separate operation in Jibia LGA, Katsina State, troops intercepted terrorists moving with rustled livestock, forcing them to abandon 62 animals.
- The recovered livestock were returned to their owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia.
