Police arrest elderly man over alleged abuse of minor in Bauchi
Musa Garba, a 60-year-old man, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area. The command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the arrest in a statement. The incident was reported by the victim’s father, and the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime. The police are also searching for another suspect, identified only as Nafi’u, who is currently at large.
What happened
- The case was reported at the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters on May 8, 2026 by the victim’s father.
- The victim was allegedly lured into a hideout by Musa Garba on May 7, 2026 at about 4pm.
- Musa Garba confessed to the offence and admitted to committing similar acts against the victim on several occasions.
- Another suspect, Nafi’u, is implicated in a separate incident involving the same victim and is currently at large.
- The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the act and reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance against crimes involving children.
