
Six-hour power outage planned for Ogun communities
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled six-hour power outage in several Ogun State communities. The outage will occur on Thursday, May 14, 2026, due to maintenance on a major transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation. During this period, electricity supply will be unavailable in McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin areas. TCN has apologized to affected residents and businesses for the inconvenience.
What we know
- TCN will conduct maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.
- The outage is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will not be able to supply electricity to McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin during this period.
- Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs at TCN, said the maintenance is to ensure optimal performance and reduce unexpected faults.
- TCN has urged consumers to bear with the temporary inconvenience while the work is completed.
