Soldiers repel ISWAP attack in Yobe, killing dozens
Two soldiers have died after troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, repelled a coordinated assault by Islamic State of West African Province members on the Headquarters 27 Brigade in Buni Gari, Yobe State. The Nigerian Army reported that at least 50 terrorists were neutralised during the encounter. According to Lt Col Sani Uba, the attack targeted both the brigade headquarters and a checkpoint, but troops successfully held their ground. The military recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the attackers.
