Nigeria sees decline in road crash deaths, FRSC reports
Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has reported a 12 per cent decrease in road traffic crash fatalities in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Shehu Mohammed, Corps Marshal of the FRSC, shared this update during the commemoration of the 2026 West African Road Safety Organisation Day in Abuja. He highlighted that while the reduction is encouraging, road crashes remain a significant challenge across Africa. Experts continue to link many accidents to speeding, poor infrastructure, and weak compliance with traffic regulations.
