Court allows Bauchi commissioner to travel for Hajj and surgery
Yakubu Adamu, Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, has received court approval to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage and to undergo surgery abroad. Justice Emeka Nwite granted the request, citing ill-health as a special circumstance. The court also ordered the temporary release of Adamu’s international passport to facilitate the trip. Adamu is currently facing trial over alleged N4.6bn money laundering.

- The court previously rejected a similar application due to insufficient evidence but granted the renewed request after additional documents were submitted.
