
Police stop cattle rustling and arrest suspects in Sokoto
Three suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force after a series of operations in Sokoto State. The police recovered weapons and 46 stolen cows during these actions. Ahmad Rufa’i, the Police Public Relations Officer, highlighted the importance of timely intelligence and community cooperation. Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, the Commissioner of Police, praised the officers and urged residents to continue supporting security efforts.
What happened
- Operations were carried out between April and May in different parts of Sokoto State.
- On April 29, police arrested Aliyu Bello, Dahiru Umar, and Bashar Isah Yusuf after acting on intelligence in Tangaza town.
- Recovered items included a fabricated AK-47 rifle, ammunition, dane guns, and charms.
- On May 3, police foiled a cattle rustling attack in Gidan Bubu village and recovered 19 cows after a gunfire exchange.
- On April 30, 27 cows were recovered near Zamoriya village after suspects fled from security operatives.
