Police arrest suspects and recover stolen items in Kebbi
The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended suspected bandits and motorcycle snatchers in Kebbi State, recovering arms, ammunition, and stolen property. Umar M. Hadejia, the Commissioner of Police, highlighted the role of intelligence-led patrols and joint security operations in achieving these results. Several suspects confessed to involvement in violent crimes, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing accomplices. The police have urged commercial motorcycle riders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
What happened
- Umar M. Hadejia assumed duty as Commissioner of Police on 12th January 2026 and established the Violent Crimes Response Unit.
- On April 29, police arrested two suspected bandits, Aliyu Hussaini and Sani Abubakar, along the Bena–Mai Rai Rai Road, recovering ammunition, a motorcycle, and cash.
- A patrol team foiled an attempted motorcycle snatching on May 1 along the Amburusa–Sanyinna Road, apprehending the suspects and recovering the weapon.
- On May 2, Ashiru Muhammad was arrested for a motorcycle snatching attack along the Masalaci Zaria–Jega Road; his accomplices are still at large.
- Between January and May 2026, police recovered multiple firearms, over 1,200 rounds of ammunition, 40 stolen phones, several motorcycles, and 33 rustled cattle, arresting 47 suspects for various violent crimes.
