Elderly men, others arrested in NDLEA drug operations across Nigeria
Several suspects, including elderly men, have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for alleged involvement in drug trafficking across multiple states. The NDLEA, led by Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd.), disclosed the arrests in a statement by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi. The operations resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including skunk, Tramadol, and methamphetamine. The agency praised its officers for their efforts and urged continued vigilance.
What happened
- Pa John Ofiel, 83, was arrested on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Aba, Abia State, with 700 grams of skunk.
- Ogunjobi Samuel, 78, was arrested on Thursday, April 30, in Ilupeju-Ekiti, Ekiti State, with 350 grams of skunk.
- In Oyo State, Rebecca King, 24, was arrested on Wednesday, April 29, and Olaniyan Opeyemi, 31, was arrested during a follow-up operation in Ibadan, both linked to 1.925kg of Colorado.
- Taofik Adeyemi, 49, and Mustapha Oyerinde, 28, were arrested in Ibadan on Saturday, May 2, with 3.085kg of skunk; two associates had been arrested in December 2025.
- Other arrests and drug seizures occurred in Osun, Borno, Jigawa, Kaduna, Lagos, and Edo States on various dates, with significant quantities of drugs recovered.
