NDLEA arrests 52 in major drug raids across Kano
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Kano Strategic Command has carried out a series of raids on drug dens in Kano, resulting in the arrest of 52 suspects and the seizure of various illicit substances. The operation, led by CN DY Lawal, is part of a broader campaign to dismantle drug distribution points and restore safety to the community. According to Sadiq Maigatari, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the raids targeted more than 20 known drug locations. The NDLEA has called on the public to support ongoing efforts to keep Kano’s streets safe.
What happened
- The NDLEA Kano Strategic Command launched “Operation Sharar Mafaka” to target notorious drug joints across Kano.
- Raids were conducted in areas including Filin Idi, Tashar Rami, Fagge, Abattoir, Farm Centre, Hotoro Flyover, Mariri Park, Ramin Jirga Tishama, Yankaba Park, Audu Bako Secretariat, Kwanar Ungogo, Titin Jajira, Tudun Bojuwa, and parts of Sabon Gari.
- A total of 52 suspects, including four females, were arrested and assorted illicit drugs and paraphernalia were seized.
- CN DY Lawal described the strategy as “dislodge and occupy,” aiming to remove criminal elements and restore normalcy.
- The operation is aligned with the agenda of NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), to achieve a drug-free society.
