NDLEA intercepts Captagon and arrests suspects in major drug busts
In a series of operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized large quantities of illicit drugs and arrested multiple suspects across Nigeria. The agency intercepted Captagon pills in Kwara State, marking a significant blow to drug syndicates. Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, detailed the seizures and arrests, highlighting the dangerous effects of Captagon and other substances. Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the operatives for their efforts in disrupting drug trafficking networks.
What happened
- NDLEA operatives seized 10,000 Captagon pills and nine packets of Tapentadol from Nasiru Mu’azu on Tuesday 21st April 2026 in Kwara State.
- On Friday, 24 April, 155,900 capsules of Tramadol and other drugs were found hidden in a trailer, with Aminu Isah arrested in connection.
- In Oyo State on 21 April, Eze Prince Emeka was caught after excreting 45 pellets of cocaine weighing over 1kg.
- On Saturday, 25 April, NDLEA intercepted a truck in Edo State with 1,196,000 pills of opioids, arresting Osagie Igbinibo and Omijie Malik; and arrested Rasheed Ibuowo in Lagos with 810kg of cannabis.
- Additional operations included the destruction of 20,000kg of cannabis in Cross River and the seizure of explosive device components in Niger State.
