Nigeria among top countries hit hardest by global food crisis
Nigeria has been listed as one of the ten countries most affected by acute food insecurity, according to a new international report. The 2026 Global Report on Food Crises, released by UN agencies, the European Union, and partners, highlights the deepening and persistent nature of hunger in conflict-affected areas. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization, noted that the crisis has become structural. The report also draws attention to the severe impact on children and the challenges posed by declining funding and forced displacement.
