SAPZ Kano expands outreach to more local government areas
The Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme in Kano State has launched an awareness campaign in eight additional local government areas. The initiative aims to inform farmers, traders, women, and youths about new opportunities available through SAPZ. Hajiya Rabi Mustafa Sadiq, the Knowledge Management and Communication Officer, disclosed the campaign in a statement. The programme is designed to boost agricultural processing, create jobs, and empower local communities.
What we know
- The SAPZ campaign now targets Dawakin Kudu, Kumbotso, Tofa, Gwarzo, Madobi, Shanono, Minjibir, and Gabasawa Local Government Areas.
- The Federal Government, in partnership with the African Development Bank and other organizations, is implementing SAPZ in seven states and the Federal Capital Territory.
- SAPZ aims to attract private-sector investment, improve food security, create jobs, and reduce rural poverty.
- In Kano and Ogun states, about 75,000 direct beneficiaries are expected, mainly farmers, processors, traders, and service providers.
- SAPZ Kano has also established a Multi-Stakeholder Agribusiness Forum to enhance collaboration and value chain integration among stakeholders.
