
Police arrest three suspects and seize firearms in Ogun
Three suspects have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in separate operations targeting cult-related and criminal activities. The police recovered locally made firearms, cartridges, and charms during these operations. Oluseyi Babaseyi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, provided details of the arrests, which took place between April 14 and 18, 2026. All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
What happened
- The first arrest occurred on April 14, 2026, at Mowe Bus Stop, where Opeyemi Anuoluwapo was found with a locally made pistol, an expended cartridge, and charms.
- The suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity during interrogation.
- On April 17, 2026, Asaye Ajibola was intercepted along the Lafarge axis on Sagamu–Ogijo Road with a single-barrel gun loaded with nine cartridges.
- Another arrest was made on April 18, 2026, when Adedeji Olufemi was found with a double-barrel gun and eight cartridges at the same location.
- Bode Ojajuni, the Commissioner of Police, praised the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes.
