NDLEA jails nearly 1,000 drug offenders in three months
In a major crackdown, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has secured convictions for 974 drug offenders. The agency intensified its operations, targeting traffickers and confiscating assets across the country. Among those convicted are 11 drug kingpins, who received a total of 254 years in prison. Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) praised the efforts of NDLEA officers in bringing offenders to justice.
What happened
- 974 offenders were convicted and sentenced to various jail terms during the first quarter of 2026.
- 11 drug kingpins received a combined 254 years imprisonment, including Adegbite Solomon (a.k.a Obama), who was sentenced to 130 years on 15 counts.
- Rauf Asogba and Seun Olaniyi were sentenced to 17 years each on 28th January 2026 for trafficking 1,779 kilograms of skunk.
- Jonathan Nuhu (a.k.a Doctor) and Idris Yusuf received 15 years each, sentenced on 17th March 2026 and 31st March 2026 respectively.
- Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) stated the convictions show the resolve of the agency and the government against drug trafficking.
