Fire incidents damage restaurant and home in Anambra
Several fire outbreaks have caused significant damage to a restaurant and a residential building in Awka, Anambra State. The Anambra State Fire Service, led by Chukwudi Chiketa, responded promptly to both emergencies, preventing further escalation. Both incidents resulted in property loss but no casualties were reported. The causes of the fires have not yet been determined.
What happened
- A fire broke out at Restaurants House behind Old English, Agu-Awka, damaging roofs, furniture, and equipment before firefighters arrived.
- The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 0045 hours of Wednesday, 15th April, 2026, and quickly contained the blaze.
- Another fire occurred at No. 22 Street, Ngozika Estate, Awka, with the distress call received at exactly 1245 hours on April 10, 2026.
- Firefighters effectively contained both fires, preventing them from spreading to nearby structures.
- No casualties or injuries were recorded in either incident, and the fire service urged residents to observe fire safety precautions.
