Police lay to rest four officers killed in Borno attack
Four police officers were buried after being killed while repelling a terrorist attack in Nganzai Local Government Area. The Borno State Police Command held a solemn interment ceremony attended by senior officers and religious leaders. Inspector Samuel Ezekiel, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed, Police Constable Bitrus Luka, and Police Constable Shaibu Bukar were honored for their courage and sacrifice. The attack was repelled, and normalcy has been restored in the affected communities.
What happened
- The burial ceremony took place on 05/04/2026 at Kawar Maila Burial Ground and Maximum Prison Burial Ground in Maiduguri.
- The officers died while defending the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters from a terrorist attack on 4th April 2026.
- Senior police officials, including Commissioner Naziru Abdulmajid and ACP Jawi A. Mohammed, attended the funeral.
- The attackers used Rocket-Propelled Grenades and other weapons, damaging police property and killing four officers.
- In a related incident, one member of the Hunters Group, Atom Abua, was killed and about twenty houses were destroyed during an attack on Mallam Fatori IDP Camp in Damasak on 4th April 2026.
