Amotekun rescues nurses and others abducted in Akure
Three nurses who were kidnapped at a primary health centre in Akure have been rescued by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun. Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Corps Commander, confirmed the rescue and also announced the recovery of a man and his son who were abducted in a separate incident. The victims are currently receiving treatment. The Amotekun commander emphasized the importance of public cooperation for continued safety.
What happened
- Operatives of Amotekun rescued three nurses abducted by gunmen at a primary health centre in Akure.
- Akogun Adetunji Adeleye confirmed the health workers were rescued at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.
- A 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, kidnapped at Pelebe community, were also rescued at about 1:00 a.m. after a confrontation with the kidnappers.
- The abduction at the health centre occurred at about 2 a.m. when armed bandits arrived in a bus and took away the victims.
- The rescued health workers are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility.
