
Multiple deaths in Ogun as UK returnee, others involved in crashes
Five people, including a woman who recently returned from the United Kingdom for a wedding, lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Ogun State. The incidents occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan and Ijebu-Ode/Ore expressways. According to officials, both crashes involved speeding vehicles colliding with trucks. Authorities have urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure proper safety measures.
What happened
- A Toyota Hiace bus collided with a stationary MAN Diesel truck along the Ijebu-Ode/Ore Expressway, resulting in four deaths.
- The truck was being towed when its chain snapped, leaving it stranded on the road before the bus crashed into it.
- Afolabi Odunsi, spokesperson for the Ogun State FRSC, confirmed that all occupants of the bus died at the scene.
- In a separate incident, a woman who had just returned from the UK died when a Toyota Camry rammed into a moving truck near Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
- Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, stated that excessive speed was a factor in the crashes and urged drivers to obey traffic regulations.
