
Police arrest three suspected robbers and recover stolen tanker in Anambra
Three suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command. According to spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were made during targeted operations in the state. The police also recovered arms, ammunition, and a stolen petrol tanker. The suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate involved in criminal activities in Ogidi and its environs.
What happened
- Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, arrested three suspects on March 21, 2026 at about 1.46 pm in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
- The suspects arrested are Francis Chukwuka Anene (46), Emmanuel Obi (29), and Okoye Chinonso (35), who is allegedly a serving member of a security agency.
- Items recovered include two locally made Beretta pistols, four rounds of live 9 mm ammunition, and a suspected fake security agency identity card.
- Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, and terrorising residents of Ogidi.
- In a separate operation, police recovered a suspected stolen white trailer abandoned along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway in the early hours of March 17, 2026.
