Police arrest four over shop burglaries and stolen goods in Uyo
Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested two suspected shop burglars and two others accused of receiving stolen items. According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, the arrests were made during targeted operations in Uyo. The suspects, Idiongho Johnny and Ofonime Jimmy, reportedly confessed to shop burglaries in the area. Police also recovered a locally made pistol, stolen generators, and other items from those arrested on March 17, 2026.

- Items recovered from the suspects included a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, master keys, an iron cutter, and a mobile phone.
- The two suspects confessed to being involved in shop burglaries in the area.
- In a follow-up operation, two suspected receivers, Innocent Nnaukwu (39) and Ali Ibrahim (24), were arrested with two generators, a welding coil, and a car battery.
- CP Baba Mohammed Azare praised the operatives and assured the public of continued efforts to dismantle the syndicate and recover more stolen items.
