Police detain three in Enugu, recover gun and tricycle
Three suspects have been detained by the Enugu State Police Command during crime prevention operations. According to spokesman SP Daniel Ndukwe, officers recovered a firearm, ammunition, and a tricycle. The suspects include Ugochukwu Samuel, Kevin Kosichukwu, and Chinedu Harrison. The police commissioner, Mr Mamman Giwa, praised the operatives and encouraged public cooperation.
What happened
- On March 15, police intercepted an unregistered tricycle on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway and recovered a locally made pistol from Ugochukwu Samuel and Kevin Kosichukwu.
- Later that day, officers stopped a motorcycle on Nsukka Road, Orba, and detained Chinedu Harrison, recovering six rounds of 9mm ammunition.
- One suspect fled into a bush during the second incident, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him and other accomplices.
- Chinedu Harrison confessed to being a member of a cult group and provided further information.
- The suspects will be arraigned after investigations are concluded, and residents are urged to support the police with credible information.
