
Four cocoa farmers kidnapped by gunmen in Ibadan
Four cocoa farmers were abducted by gunmen at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan. The incident occurred while some of the victims were visiting the institute. DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, confirmed the kidnapping and reported that one victim has been rescued. Police have launched a search operation to find the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
What happened
- Six gunmen intercepted the farmers' vehicle as they were heading to the Nursing Section at the institute.
- Some of the kidnapped individuals were at the institute for a familiarisation visit.
