NDLEA charges 10 Filipinos and vessel for cocaine importation
Ten Filipino nationals and a vessel, MV Nord Bosporus, have been arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over alleged cocaine importation. The defendants appeared before Justice Ayokunle Faji at the Federal High Court in Lagos. Theresa Asuquo, prosecuting for the NDLEA, stated that the group conspired to import 20 kilograms of cocaine from Santos, Brazil. Both parties have entered a plea bargain agreement, and the court has set a new date for further hearing.
What happened
- The NDLEA arraigned Eugene Quinos Corpuz, Mark Joseph Jardiniano, Alexis Navidad Evarrola, Francis Gerard Niones Carpio, Franz Jude Mayran, Mahinay Junniel Lagura, Mario Ganiban Malvar, Hormachuelos Lordito Guivencan, Joshua Emmanuel Hufanda, and Edwin Baltazar Reyes alongside MV Nord Bosporus.
- The defendants were arrested on November 16, 2025, at the GDNL Terminal, Apapa Port, Lagos.
- They were charged with conspiracy and unlawful importation of 20 kilograms of cocaine, allegedly transported from Santos, Brazil.
- Both prosecution and defence confirmed a plea bargain agreement had been filed before the court.
- Justice Faji adjourned the case until Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for further hearing.
