
Two teenagers drown while fleeing suspected phone thieves in Kano
Three young men were involved in separate water-related incidents in Kano State. Sadiq Isyaku and Auwal Isyaku drowned after falling into an open water body while escaping from suspected phone snatchers in Kumbotso. The Kano State Fire Service responded quickly but both victims were later confirmed dead. In a separate incident, a 40-year-old man, Shitu Balarabe, was rescued alive after falling into a well in Kano Municipal.
What happened
- Sadiq Isyaku and Auwal Isyaku, both 18, died after falling into an open water body while trying to escape from suspected phone snatchers in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
- The Kano State Fire Service received an emergency call and dispatched a rescue team, but the two youths were confirmed dead after being rescued unconscious.
- Their bodies were handed over to their father, Ibrahim Shehu, of Unguwa Uku Quarters.
- In a separate incident, Shitu Balarabe, aged 40, was rescued alive after falling into a well in Durumin Zungura, Kano city.
- The fire service urged residents to take precautions around open water bodies and wells to prevent similar tragedies.
