
Boxers compete for spots at Commonwealth Games trials
A total of 128 boxers are competing at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Complex in Surulere as part of the Nigeria Boxing Federation’s open trials to select 10 representatives for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The trials include both male and female athletes, with spirited performances across various weight categories. Vivian Azimene, Secretary General of the federation, confirmed the team size was increased after an intervention by Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission. Boxers are eager to secure their place on the national team and represent Nigeria on the international stage.
