Unical suspends nine students for malpractice and forgery
The University of Calabar has suspended nine students for alleged examination malpractice and result forgery. Dr Chukwuka Icha, the institution’s Registrar, announced the decision after a Senate meeting. Five students were suspended for exam malpractice, while four others were found to have submitted forged results. The suspension will last for two academic sessions and will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic year.

- Dr Chukwuka Icha stated the suspensions followed reports from the Ad-Hoc Senate Committee on Examination Malpractice and the Senate Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
- The affected students include Akwuba Enestina, Udom Iboro, Nwankwo Daniel, Ore Israel, Chisom Ejafa, Lazarus Ebogo, Ele Godwin, Ofem Patrick, and Makailu Pamilo.
- The suspension is for two academic sessions, starting from the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Heads of departments, deans, and the Acting Chief Security Officer have been instructed to enforce the suspension.
- The action follows a similar move by the University of Abuja, which expelled 28 students for misconduct.
