Police arrest four suspects and recover 42 stolen sheep in Niger
Four suspects have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly stealing 42 sheep. Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the arrests followed credible intelligence and a successful operation. The sheep were recovered and returned to their rightful owner. The police are still searching for other members of the gang who remain at large.
What happened
- Wasiu Abiodun stated that the suspects were apprehended on February 24 at about 6pm by operatives attached to the command’s Crack Squad.
- The suspects are Abubakar Musa, Muhammed Ibeto, Bello Saidu, and Abubakar Alhaji.
- The arrests took place after a tip-off about the suspects being seen in the Raba Forest area near Mokwa with stolen animals.
- The suspects reportedly confessed to rustling the sheep from Salihu Village near Mokwa and named other accomplices.
- The 42 sheep have been identified and claimed by their rightful owner, while efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
