
Police dismantle kidnapping gang and recover weapons in Delta
Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Delta State Police Command’s CP-Special Assignment Team, led by CP Aina Adesola. The suspects were apprehended following operations in Ughelli and nearby communities, where they provided information leading to the recovery of weapons. According to SP Bright Edafe, the suspects were identified by a kidnapping victim and are now in custody. The police commissioner praised the operatives and urged residents to support efforts against crime.
What happened
- Usman Ayuba, Ibrahim Abubakar, and Haruna Dahiru were arrested and provided information that led to the recovery of a loaded magazine and an AK-47 rifle on 26 February, 2026 and 27 February 2026.
- The suspects were identified by a female victim who was abducted on 4 February 2026 and released after a ransom was paid.
- In a separate incident on February 27, 2026, Shuabu Adams was arrested near Western Delta University with a locally made gun and live cartridges.
