
Police detain suspects and recover stolen vehicles in Enugu and Anambra
Four suspects have been detained by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with stolen vehicles in Enugu and Anambra. According to spokesman SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests and recoveries were made through intelligence-driven operations. Among the recovered vehicles is one linked to a kidnapping case. The police have urged residents to stay vigilant and assist with credible information.
What happened
- Joseph Nsor, 22, was detained on February 26 at Chris Chemist Roundabout in Enugu while attempting to escape with a stolen Toyota Hiace bus; he was arraigned in court on February 27.
- On January 31, Ugwuanyi Samuel (alias “Sammyblack”) was found with a red Toyota Camry snatched in June 2022 during a kidnapping in Ogbunike, Anambra State.
- The kidnapped victim’s son was released after a N500,000 ransom was paid, but the vehicle was taken and repainted.
- On January 24, Chinonso John and Samuel Nwankwor were detained in New Garriki, Enugu, with a red Toyota Matrix stolen at gunpoint in Awka, Anambra State, on January 23.
- The police are continuing investigations and plan to hand over the remaining suspects and evidence to the Anambra State Police Command.
