
NSCDC detains 12 Malians over suspected illegal entry in Kwara
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, has arrested 12 suspected illegal immigrants from Mali in Ilorin. The arrest followed a tip-off from concerned residents about suspicious activity in the Akerebiata area. Bala Bodinga, the State Commandant, said investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects' intentions and possible criminal links. The suspects were found with various items, including mobile phones, passports, and cash.
What happened
- The 12 suspects were arrested on Sunday, February 22, 2025, at about 10:00 p.m. in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin.
- They were reportedly occupying a two-bedroom apartment rented through a local agent.
- Items recovered included nine mobile phones, two international passports, identification cards, a wristwatch, keys, and cash.
- Bala Bodinga stated that the suspects will be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service after investigations.
