Kwara government strengthens efforts to end female genital mutilation
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its determination to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other harmful practices affecting women and children. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, Commissioner for Women Affairs, called for a collaborative, multi-sectoral approach to tackle FGM during a stakeholders’ review meeting in Ilorin. The government highlighted ongoing advocacy, law enforcement, and community engagement as key strategies. Stakeholders from various sectors were urged to contribute to the new action plan and support efforts to protect girls and women.
