Lagos airport fire leads to rescue of 18 people and terminal closure
A fire broke out at the old Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, resulting in the rescue of 18 people. Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident and the successful extinguishing of the blaze. The fire started in the IT Server Room and affected other parts of the terminal, but was contained through coordinated efforts. What happened

- Flight operations were temporarily disrupted, with some flights diverted and passengers stranded, but normalcy has since been restored.
- Activities have been relocated to the New Terminal, while the Old Terminal 1 remains closed pending further assessment.
