NDLEA arrests real estate boss and others in major drug crackdown
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested several individuals, including Lagos real estate developer Kolapo Raji and Ivorian national Michael Gohouri, in separate anti-drug operations. The agency recovered large quantities of drugs, vehicles, and other items during these raids. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi highlighted the use of fake pregnancies and real estate businesses as fronts for trafficking. The arrests took place across multiple states, targeting syndicates at airports, borders, highways, and seaports.
What happened
- Kolapo Raji, CEO of Trans Fortress Global Resources, was arrested at his Ikate, Lekki residence, where 89.20kg of Canadian Loud and a 2024 Toyota Hilux were seized.
- Michael Gohouri, a 41-year-old Ivorian, was caught at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport after ingesting 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49kg.
- A businesswoman, Rabi Muhammad, was intercepted at the Seme border with 3,200 capsules of tramadol hidden in a fake pregnancy.
- NDLEA operatives also seized large quantities of skunk, codeine-based syrup, and tramadol in operations across Lagos, Rivers, Kogi, Ondo, Bauchi, Delta, and Edo States.
- The NDLEA emphasized its ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks using various methods and fronts nationwide.
