
Police uncover gang armoury and recover weapons in Delta
Three separate police operations in Delta State have led to the recovery of illegal firearms and the arrest of suspects linked to armed robbery. The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Aina Adesola, conducted raids in multiple communities, disrupting criminal activities and seizing weapons. SP Bright Edafe shared details of the operations, which included the arrest of Dafiaga Timothy and Aliyu Sabo. Several suspects remain at large as investigations continue.
What happened
- At about 5:30 a.m. on 19 February 2026, police, acting on information from Dafiaga Timothy, uncovered a concealed armoury along the Sapele–Warri Road by the Adheje Community axis.
- Weapons recovered included a locally made long gun, a cut-to-size gun, a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with five rounds, 10 live cartridges, and a dagger.
- On February 18, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m., police intercepted a tricycle on the Agbarho–Warri Expressway, arresting Aliyu Sabo and recovering a cut-to-size pistol, cartridges, mobile phones, and other items.
- Also on February 18, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m., officers responded to a distress call at Texas Lodge Hostel, Alihame Community, Agbor, recovering a locally fabricated pistol, an expended cartridge, and several mobile devices after suspects fled.
- CP Aina Adesola praised the officers for their efforts and urged the public to remain vigilant and support police operations with credible information.
