
Zonal qualifiers kick off for Nigeria’s U-17 cricket championships
The Nigeria Cricket Federation has started zonal qualifiers for the National U-17 Boys and Girls Championships. The competition is taking place across the six geopolitical zones, with matches in various states. According to the federation, this championship is a major platform for discovering young cricket talent. Many current national team players have come through this tournament.
Match highlights
- The zonal qualifiers began in the South West and South East zones on February 18 and will continue until March 1.
- South West matches are being held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta until February 21, while South East games are at Government College, Owerri, until February 22.
- North West qualifiers will start in Kaduna from February 25, with Adamawa hosting North East states.
- South South matches are scheduled in Edo State, and North Central qualifiers will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
- The Nigeria Cricket Federation stated that 70% of senior national team players and all U-19 national players have participated in this championship.
