Police arrest vigilante murder suspect and accomplices in Niger
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended Sudais Zakari, who had been evading authorities since 2024 for allegedly killing a vigilante member. Zakari was arrested with Danjuma Idris on suspicion of involvement in robbery activities. The police operation took place in Maitumbi, where both suspects were found at criminal hideouts. Another suspect, Aji Gana, was also arrested in a related operation.
What we know
- Sudais Zakari was arrested after being on the run since 2024 for allegedly killing Ibrahim Yahaya in Maitumbi in April 2024.
- Zakari is also accused of participating in several armed robberies in Maitumbi in 2025.
- The arrests were made on 7th February 2026 at 10:30pm by police operatives and vigilante members.
- Danjuma Idris was found with various breaking tools and items suspected to be stolen.
- On 8th February 2026 at about 3am, Aji Gana was intercepted and arrested with suspicious items by the Operation Flush patrol team.
