Police officer and others abducted as kidnappers demand N100m ransom
Five people, including a police officer, were abducted in Akoko Edo, Edo State. The kidnappers struck in two separate incidents, targeting a health centre and a police inspector's residence. Bode Ekundayo, National Coordinator of the Movement for the Advancement of Akoko Edo People, confirmed the incidents and ransom demands. The police have arrested some suspects and are working to rescue the victims.
What happened
- The first abduction occurred at Makeke community health centre, where Tope Oriloye and Samuel Ilesanmi were kidnapped.
- In a separate incident, Police Inspector Segun Obanowa, his wife, and daughter were abducted from their residence; his wife was later released to arrange ransom.
- The kidnappers demanded N100 million for the release of Tope Oriloye and Samuel Ilesanmi.
- Local hunters and vigilantes searched for the victims but were unsuccessful.
