Lagos prosecutes hundreds for illegal roadside refuse dumping
Lagos State Waste Management Authority has prosecuted 447 people for dumping refuse on roads and unauthorised sites. Muyiwa Gbedegesin, LAWMA’s Managing Director, said the agency is intensifying enforcement against environmental offenders. He noted that indiscriminate waste disposal remains a major challenge, with many residents wrongly leaving refuse on roadsides. LAWMA is also recruiting more environmental health officers and planning incentives to encourage cleanliness.
