NEDC sends condolences to NUJ after Bauchi road accident
The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has expressed sympathy to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, following a road accident involving journalists. The accident happened while journalists were covering the commission’s project inauguration in Bauchi State. Abba Musa, Head of Corporate Services, stated that the NEDC is providing medical care and support for the injured journalists and their families. Several media professionals from different organisations were affected in the incident.

- The accident occurred on February 6, during the inauguration and handover of completed projects in Bauchi State.
- A vehicle carrying 14 journalists and a driver was involved in the crash on Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
- Abba Musa confirmed that the NEDC Governing Board has approved full medical care for the injured and support for their families.
- Journalists from outlets including the News Agency of Nigeria, The Guardian, The Nation, NTA, Channels Television, Arise TV, AIT, Bauchi Radio Corporation, and Bauchi State Television were among those injured.
- Efforts are ongoing to reach affected media organisations and the families of the victims.
